There’s no combat here, but that doesn’t detract from the sci-fi fun to be had. It’s a basic setup, but it’s enough for what awaits you out in Outer Wilds’ dinky solar system. Your other tools are a Scout which can take photos and highlight hazards in the environment, and a Signal Repeater to help identify strange signals and drive your adventure forward. These are what drive the narrative forward for the most part, giving you clues as to where to explore next or explain that mysterious rune you spotted on a planet’s surface. This is just one of three tools you have at your disposal in Outer Wilds, enabling you to decipher the scrawlings and written conversations between members of the Nomiad race that are seemingly at the heart of the mysteries of this solar system. Your adventure is different to those explorers who came before you, however, as you’re the first to travel the vast emptiness of space with the Nomiad Translator in hand. Outer Wilds puts you in the role of the newest member of the Outer Wilds Ventures, a space program whose main purpose is to explore the solar system and uncover the mysteries of the various planets. That doesn’t mean it isn’t without its shortcomings, which become particularly prevalent as your space adventure comes to a close, but push through them and keep exploring and you’ve got one of the finest space adventures you can get your hands on. Outer Wilds may well be my favorite game I’ve played so far in 2019. Take a look at your disc with a ripper and let me know what audio tracks it has.I’m just going to get this out of the way from the off. I do not know how many the EU release (Little Big Adventure 2) has or what other differences it may have.

The NA release (Twinsen's Odyssey) has 6 audio tracks. It would at least allow the user to select what language for the game that they want to use.Īlso, I have no way to check the CD audio tracks. I suppose that I could just do a multi language installer with all of the custom strings in English. What language did you want? It would be possible to do a multi language installer, but that would require some one to translate the installer's custom strings for each supported other language - French, German, Italian and Spanish with only English, German and French audio files. This part is trivial, but the multi language presents a bit more of a hurdle. The main difference between the discs is that the main folder is named "LBA2" and the installer was expecting this folder to named "TWINSEN". There is few people who would hate him for it (I would 😈 ). Competition is awesome, but If anyone feels like cheating at that point, just let him do it. You get a feeling for this after some time and also its just a speedrun for an old game.

I am not too worried about someone speeding up his run by 1% or something. All the runners I know used a clean setup from the magicball network (Its the corresponding fan page for the game) with very few (afaik even 0) Variables you could change to make the game run faster.
Little big adventure 2 speedrun code#
All I know (from some other runners) is, that its something like an code of honour to not manipulate your DOSBox. I really dont know too much about the technology behind DOSBox, so I cant answer this sufficent enough. (Please excuse me if I am stating the obvious.) the game won't start running faster than normal if you bump up the DOSBox cycles? Because DOSBox might not be too great for speedrunning if that's the case. I gather LBA2 has no particular timing issues, i.e.

Can anyone help me with this (assumably) easy problem? Isnt it possible to tell DosBox (sounds so unprofessional) that the files required for playing VIDEO and MUSIC are no longer on the CD but in a seperate folder on the harddrive? I have tried just copying the files into another folder and tried mounting this directory (again: without much success). What I have seen in those cracks is, that you need to move 2 folders (MUSIC and VIDEO) onto your harddrive, because they are only saved on the CD. I have tried some NO-CD-Cracks (allowed to say that here? 😁) but without much success. I think the loading of VIDEO and MUSIC are the two main reasons for this. Problem: I am speedrunning the game and with very bad loading from the CD, it can cost me about 20s in the whole run. Unfortunately I dont have too much experience at working with DosBox, so I thought you could help me!
Little big adventure 2 speedrun how to#
I am looking for advice on how to run Little Big Adventure 2 WITHOUT a CD.
